Roll Turning is characterised by difficult
machining conditions wherein, cutting is required
to be carried out in rolls both fresh &
reworked. The requirement of the cutting cutting
edge is to retain its sharpness over an extended
period. It is also required to retain the
toughness of the insert so that there is no
failure of the tool on account of turning
large roll diameters. Today m/s Sumitomo has
developed a wide range of inserts suitable
for this application.
